We have trusted Mel's Garage for decades. Many garages will give you a long list of mystery repairs you need, aside from the work you requested. Tim and Cory would never do this. If you are looking for ethical mechanics who will do the work well and at a fair price, you have found your garage in Mel's. Great service, great mechanics.

The mechanics are awesome. They don't upsell and they are honest about parts that need replacement and parts that can keep going for several months. They explain things after they fix them and charge a fair price. The only downside is the space. Because of their reputation, they are always full, but they don't have any parking space. So you need to park on the street, and that can be several blocks away when it's crowded. Don't let that stop you though, support this garage!

The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of coolant should be checked. (A 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water is usually recommended.)

Never remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled. The tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps and hoses should be checked by a pro.

Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual, or more often (every 3,000 miles) if you make frequent short jaunts, extended trips with lots of luggage or tow a trailer.
